It is a popular destination for tourists. There are numerous places around the world called &#8216;Bund&#8217; such as the Yokohama Bund in Japan, but the Bund at Shanghai is uniquely different from these not only because of its architectural importance but also due to its historical significance. It offers a fascinating sightseeing experience that lets you also learn more about this culturally rich and diverse area.<\/p>\n<p>Fueron los brit\u00e1nicos quienes primero construyeron sus edificios de oficinas a lo largo de este tramo, y posteriormente se desarroll\u00f3 para albergar importantes consulados, restaurantes y clubes exclusivos, elegantes hoteles y bancos internacionales. En otras palabras, se convirti\u00f3 en el centro financiero de China. Durante la d\u00e9cada de 1940, con la Revoluci\u00f3n Cultural en China, la mayor\u00eda de los antiguos inquilinos abandonaron estos edificios, construidos al estilo de los colonizadores. Sin embargo, a finales de la d\u00e9cada de 1970 y principios de la de 1980, estos edificios fueron restaurados a su antiguo uso y ahora han recuperado su antiguo esplendor. Aunque algunos de los antiguos inquilinos nunca regresaron, alberga algunas de las organizaciones m\u00e1s exclusivas de Shangh\u00e1i.<\/p>\n<p>The architecture of these buildings varies from Gothic to Romanesque to the Renaissance, Baroque, Beaux-Arts, and Neo-Classical to Art Deco. These majestic buildings though no match for the high rise office buildings of Shanghai in height, stand proud and are one of the few remaining monuments that reflect the colonial era of Shanghai. The Zhongshan Road, which runs alongside the Bund, has now developed into a ten lane road accentuating its commercial significance.
